Top 5 reasons you should update your family portraits
When is it time to refresh your family photography? If the following apply to you, perhaps it’s time to consider updating!
1. Some things are better off left in the past.
Take the opportunity to refresh your photography and use them as meaningful décor pieces in your home or at your office.
2. You’ve hit a milestone.
Life is full of milestones, from the birth of a child, or grandchild, graduation, or even moving to a new place. Whether to celebrate a success, immortalise an important event, or to have high-quality photography to look back on in a few years, family portraits are an investment that you’ll forever cherish.
3. When your youngest starts asking the question, “Why aren’t I in any of the family photos?”
If older siblings feature dominantly in the family photos hanging on your walls, it may be time to book in for a photo session. In the age of the smartphone, it’s too easy to bank up photos on your phone, without them seeing the light of day.
4. Step out of social.
If you are like most people, your important memories are saved on your smartphone or occasionally posted to Facebook and Instagram. This is great for happy-snap photos, but as your family grows, you might want something more substantial.
5. You have plenty of pictures featuring your children, but no photos with them.
Perhaps you tell yourself that you, ‘just need to lose a bit of weight first,’ or, ‘I don’t look good in photo’s’. Perhaps you just haven’t had someone else to take photos for you. Whatever the case, it is easy to find excuses for being absent from pictures with your family. This is not a #mumguilt exercise; this is a reminder that you deserve to be behind the camera and your kids enjoy being with you.
Family portrait sessions are fun! We tend to use beautiful outdoor locations, and it is an opportunity to have a family day out where we laugh, run around with the kids, play games and be playful. Why not take a couple of hours to put the smartphone down and be on the other side of the camera?
